2k14 Rap Up

Well just like that its over. With about two days left in the year (given all goes good) its safe to say we've made it thru another one, and lets hope that life is larger and grander in 2k15!  But before we rush off into the new year, lets recap 2k14, and get a feel for what to expect in these coming days. I give you the first #NoCondomRapUp:HipHop in 2K14.!
Now 2014 wasn't necessarily a bad year for hip hop, but it certainly wasn't the best. Not to take away anything from it because the culture as a whole made some big feats as well as did many individuals...but it had its downsides as well. Kick back, po'up, light something as I run down biggest oohhs and aahhs of the year

First Quarter

The year started out with a bang for hip hop as many artist landed huge placements, made some big accomplishments, & the culture itself took some large steps. For example J. Cole graced the SuperBowl with a performance, and they now ask hip hop questions on game shows like Jeopardy!   Yeezy's, "Yeezus" went platinum giving him his 10th(give or take) platinum album...#Beast.  Now on the down side he got sentenced to two years probation for yet another scuffle with the paparazzi

Now Yeezy wasn't the only one doing numbers this year as Pharell's HappY went platinum as well, but somehow Macklemore manged to snatch the grammy for best hip hop album beating some of hip hops best like Kendrick,Drake, and Jay Z.  This caused quite a stir within the hip hop community resulting in Macklemore going public to say K Dot actually had the best album of the year, but folk still fstw.
Speaking of TDE Schoolboy Q released his highly anticipated "Oxymoron" which topped Billboard, and that was a real good look for the game and Q.  They finally freed Lil Boosie and he came home and went right to work.  Boosie  Bad Azz gave the streets a mixtape entitled "Life After Death Row", which got a really good response.  This project is suppose to hold the public over until he releases his double disc album, "Touchdown to Cause Hell", which is said to be finished.  SXSW was successful once again with a line up full of stars, with headliners like Yeezy, & Jay-Z & did I mention it was my 1st year performing?!?!?!

Second Quarter

The next quarter of the year got a lot more interesting as Big Sean was invited to the White House to perform for the president's daughter along side Ariana Grande. He was the first rapper ever to do so.  Also Outkast came together for a string of live shows, such as Coachella and their own tour.  This would be the first time they  performed alongside each other in a decade, and now that we're on reunions, Wu-Tang also got back together to do an album entitled "A Better Tomorrow".  G-Unit reformed also, and made an appearance at Summer Jam as a whole.
While we're in that Shady/Aftermath area(I know 50's left already) lets go ahead and point out the fact that Dr. Dre sold his Beat headphones to Apple for 3.2 billion, making him hip hops first billionaire!  If that wasn't surprising enough Spike Lee directed an Eminem video...well it was mindblowing to me!  Now on the downside of this quarter, two of the most well-established black celebrities (T.I. & Mayweather) of our time, scuffled outside of a Fatburger in Vegas over Tiny.  I heard Tip swung first...he really loves her is all I can say.  Meanwhile in the middle of the nation, Trick Trick established the No Fly Zone in Michigan locking out any rappers that don't break bread with local artists, and made Rick Ross the first example by not letting him perform at a concert. & who could forget the infamous Jay-Z, Solange, elevator incident?

Third Quarter

2k14 might've been battle raps biggest year.  In addition to The URL having its own segment on BET entitled Ultimate Freestyle Fridays, the genre also had its first ever PPV event presented on national TV, with a reality series that aired in the upcoming weeks of the event!  Even hip hop artists got into the ring to throw punches with battle rap vets.  The two biggest being Joe Budden(vs Hollow the Don) & Cassidy(vs Dizaster) who got paid 250k for his battle!

Drake and Tunechi gave the fans what they wanted and co-headlined a tour together entitled "Drake vs Wayne" and it was a success.  Drake also hosted the ESPY's this year, and appeared on Saturday Night Live, which a few rappers did this year.  Jay-Z's "Made In America" documentary aired as him & B, completed their successful "On the Run" co-lab  tour.  Jigga also kicked off football season, performing for the start of the first official game, with Rhi Rhi.

Fourth Quarter

All good things must come to an end, or so they say...well in this case its true, as we're seeing all the good news from hip hop this year, is being offset by a series of unfortunate events.  Young Money/Cash Money artists have been insulting their label, and label mates publicly in these last couple of months, starting with Lil Twist back in October who said his management was worst ever in history.  Tyga then came forward claiming that the label was refusing to let him release his album or move forward with his career.  Tyga then went on to say he didn't like the labels marquee acts (Drake & Nicki) personally he just worked with them cause he had to.  As if this wasn't enough, Wayne recently went public about his album being held w/ no release date, & even wanting off the label.  Tunechi has hinted at taking legal action against Cash Money if the situation isn' fixed....whoa.

Just when you thought it was all love in hip hop, damn.  But YMCMB isn't the only group of folk who are divided right now.  Apparently DJ Mustard, (break out producer who made YG's "My Hitta" ) is beefing with none other than YG.  This was literally brought to my attention a few minutes ago as the "IG" beef escalated earlier today.  Dj Mustard is upset over not being paid for the music he provided for the project.  YG in turn and I quote stated "Fuqq you, and fuqq everybody that didn't get paid for my album...".   The two were scheduled to fight but I haven't heard anymore about it.
Well I hope you found our little time together informative,  but hell who am I kidding?  With the way 2k14 ending the way it has I honestly don't know what to expect from hip hop in 2k15, but I know one thing for sure...you can expect to see me on TV!!! Its been great see you guys in 2k15!!!
( I despise talking about the laws so we won't get into how the hip hop police have been cracking down on artists like Bobby Shmurda and Tiny Doo as of late, but my last post was about it, so if you wanna read up on it just go back a day or two.)

Fvck The Po-Lice!

Lots has happened in this last quarter of 2k14...especially in hip hop.  Although lots of progression was made, there was a lot of mishaps, unfortunate events, and riffs amongst artist(some of whom appeared to be good friends).  On top of that it seems that the #hiphoppolice are cracking down on artist that affiliate themselves with the streets.  For example they hit new up and coming artist Bobby Shmurda with an indictment "about a week agoooo"(its not funny tho)".  Feds say they busted Bobby & crew GS9 with about 20 some-odd guns, and had other charges against them ranging from murder to drugs.  I read recently that Shmurda is out on bond, but faces 25 years. His lawyer states the case they have against him is all a hunk of bull shyt, for his sake I hope it is.Jon Oh-No-Condom Blog-Bobby-Shmurda-GS9-Indictment
Nothing is worse than the article I just read tho.  If you're not into west coast rap then you don't know these guys, but San Diego rapper Tiny Doo is behind bars right now due to a mixtape he released entitled "No Safety.  The cops believe a string of attempted murders boosted the artists credibility which in turn caused the mixtape to do really well, and if you haven't heard(as I hadn't), the conspiracy law imprisons anyone who benefits from the criminal activity in question, even if they had nothing to do with it!  When you add up the facts that Tiny Doo has no criminal record, the mixtape was made a year before the shootings occured, and the songs don't even indicate the shootings, you gotta wonder: Why are they charging him again?  Mr Doo is set to go to trial late January, but I honestly hope this case gets dismissed.  Prosecutors day its not about his freedom of speech, but actually it is.  Now correct me if I'm wrong but I've never heard of a case against a (death-metal, punk) rock artist, even though kids commit suicide all the time, and  sometimes schools even get shot up.  These lyrics can be very disturbing at times, & though every so often ppl point the finger, its never near as serious as the Tiny Doo case.  I hope everything works out in his favor.
Jon Oh-No-Condom Blog-Tiny-Doo-No-Safety_Indictment
Also in other legal matters in hip hop,  apparently this Lil Wayne leaving Cash Money thing is real.  I've been seeing several reports that indicate Tunechi is ready to sue Baby, & it basically boils down to the release of The Carter V.  I've heard that the ultimatum for Baby is release Tunechi or he's going to sue.  Everything is being kept sort of hush besides the original tweet that Wayne sent out a week or two ago. Will do my best to keep you updated!!!

Worst Christmas Ever

Well once again we're here.  That wonderful time of year where everyone digs as deep as needed to bring out that holiday cheer.  Lots of good eating, even better moments and most importantly of all, lots of love from family & friends.   All of these spectacular things, yet every year, someone somewhere, has their perfect plans ruined by natural laws of nature.  Everyone whose ever graduated high school,(or are at least 18 years of age) has that awkward/bad/funny/horrible/terrible Christmas story.  Me being a Christmas baby decided that I'll tell mine first and let you guys comment below with yours....
So the nintendo 64 had came and was about to go, but it still had one good year left before newer tech like the PS2 and Dreamcast came along...
Jon Oh-No-Condom Blog-Worst-Christmas-Ever-Playstation-2 8
With it being the holiday season game developers gave one last effort to push the aging systems to their limit while raking in some quick cash, which resulted in lackluster games that were sold at cheaper prices than the blockbusters of that summer & before.  Now as a kid you had no awareness of this even though you had all the facts, as well as video game review sources.
Jon Oh-No-Condom Blog-Worst-Christmas-Ever-Electronic-Gamer-Monthly
Being that I was a die-hard wrestling fan,  any game that the WCW or WWF put out, I had to get it.  This particular year my favorite sport game developer (Electronic Arts) was in control of a wrestling game for a change and I thought, man, if other developers made great wrestling games this one (EA*) is gonna be groundbreaking!  The name of the game I'm talking about is WCW's Backstage Assault....and now that I hear the name back it sounds like a dirty, rape role-play porno.  So of course its terrible but I didn't know!  The gameplay and stills looked nice.....
And as I stated earlier this was in 2000 so that was decent, nothing too far from the norm.  Now of course I beg for this game until the day arrives.  I search frantically for it, but nothing?  All clothes and another game I had asked for but not this one.  Sooooo I gets to moping, complaining about how I only asked for one thing in particular, and how its my birthday, I should at least get something I want, everyone else got what they wanted, and other rants like that.  About half the day goes by in this manner until my mother says you should check all your boxes.  Hope's light shimmered back in my mind and I rushed to open my unopened gifts and what'd ya know?  There it is, in its shiny new package "WCW Backstage Assault"Jon Oh-No-Condom Blog-Worst-Christmas-Ever-EA-Sports-Backstge-Assault-Cover Jon Oh-No-Condom Blog-Worst-Christmas-Ever-EA-Sports-Backstge-Assault-Back-Cover
Now to make a short story shorter, I rush to play the game and it sucks! A wrestling game with no wrestling ring! Now as I stated before, video game reviews were accessible, but I liked to play the game first to compare my review to it; but of course it matched!
Jon Oh-No-Condom Blog-Worst-Christmas-Ever-EA-Sports-Backstge-Assault-Nintendo-Power-Review
So needless to say, #thedisappointmentwasreal. I had waited half the year at least for that...mockery of a wrestling game to come out and now I had to live with that decision until I could get a new game...which could take months.  Easily one of Worst Christmas' Ever!

So whats your worst Christmas story???

Diggin The Iggzter!

So Iggy Azaela is definitely on my radar as of now, not to say that she wasn't already colossal but I wasn't paying her as much attention as I have as of late.  This is wack of me on so many different levels but most mainly because back in 2012 when she dropped Glory...
I happened to drop my #PreEjaculation mixtape the same day...
Now what was even more significant was the number of tracks that each contained.  Iggy's had 6 & I had 7!!!  Now despite being aware of her, and my brother, as well as lady friends telling me I should give her a listen I still didn't give her music a chance.  Two years have gone by and she's everywhere!!!  I can remember it like yesterday when Fancy came blaring thru my speakers while listening to Pandora.  Didn't know who it was just knew it was dope af!  When I learned it was her I gave that hhmmm....interesting look.  Since I've heard that song I've heard or seen her at least once 6 days outta of the week.  If she isn't doing something fab, then someone's attacking her character, which we won't even go into tho because after last night you can't deny her grind.  I haven't received my AMA yet, but I feel you probably gotta put in some work to get there...

Was looking at her twitter feed and saw she just released two projects I guess the New Classic & Reclassified.  Plan on checking it out today and tomorrow to really see what she has to offer.  Either way I commend her.!!!!!!

I Wanna Meet George (Black Yuppie Ep. 3+)

So this summer you probably seen me in an area near you promoting my new music
Jon Oh! Promo IMG_0221IMG_0219 IMG_0220
Yeah its some killer shyt and I got more in the oven for ya, but thats not what this blog is about(though I couldn't help but use the opportunity for free promo). This blog is about the monumental moment(s) that I missed while putting in that leg work. Now I wouldn't take back what I did for the world!!! Got to do a lot of stuff that I'd never done, (& a lot of people never will) so I'm happy, but the price I paid for it was substantial. No no we're not talking anything of monetary value, but an experience. A chance to meet a legend not only to myself but to millions I'd imagine. Tony Montana told you that anything was possible with a dollar and dream, this fellow actually showed you! By now the picture should be getting pretty clear about who I'm getting so antsy about.
gjYep thats him. Now lets be clear about something. Its not what he did that fascinates me, its how he did it, and his philosophies on life. He followed his natural calling. Yes he was caught, but that's also what you learn from him...no not how to not get caught, but to not do it!!! Anywhoo our dear old friend has been out of prison 5 months now and I had no clue. It wasn't until yesterday I was watching the movie for the 111th time when I said to my friend he's about to get out, my pal then stated to me that he had already been out.
o_0
I always thought of myself as pretty hip, I'm pretty up to date & current so how could I miss this??? I'll tell you how, I was living my dream which requires you to be so busy with yourself sometimes that you miss whats goin on with others. Never intentionally though and I know Mr Jung would understand because he specializes in living out dreams. Now that you've got the back-story my whole intention of this post is to get in touch with the aforementioned and maybe get a sit down with him, maybe a little video footage? Picture a George Jung cameo in a Jon Oh! video, that shid would be raw asf!!! Or even if he's doing seminars of some sort I could attend it and have a meet and greet. So I need you to reblog and share as much as possible so that it gets the right folks attention. The efforts put forth in making this happen would be greatly appreciated as well as put to GRAND use. Don't wanna make this awkward so I'll just leave here...bye.
LIKE. COMMENT. SHARE.
BE HAPPY YOU DID :)

No Condom!!!: Square Biz (Tyga Discontent w/ YMCMB): Tyga & YMCMB break-up , now everyday I wake up....... wait what ?  .

Square Biz (Tyga Discontent w/ YMCMB)

Tyga & YMCMB break-up, now everyday I wake up.......wait what?  Yep I know you've heard it already by now but if you haven't Tyga has gone public with his discontent with the YMCMB squad.  After a string-o-tweets sometime ago stating that the label was trying to hold him down by possibly not wanting to release his new 'Gold Album:18th Dynasty'.  During an interview with Vibe Magazine later on after the incident Tyga went on to publicize his dislike for Drake & Nicki Minaj as people.  The situation escalated into Drake liking a string of Tyga's B/M 'Black China's' pics on instagram which in turn caused her to tag Drake in a selfie that was later deleted.  Baby of Cash Money stated his opinion which was that Tyga was in his feelings and maybe a little jealous of Drake??? For a more in depth take on the situation watch vid below!!!

Jon Oh! Does HollyWood!

So this past week I traveled 3,000 miles away to The Place Where Stars Are Born, in pursuit of becoming one,

(Terrible OverCast Sunday)

and one of my biggest stops was none other than the BuzzNet HeadQuarters!

Unfortunately tho, no one was home so I left...

But since I already had got all jazzed up
Plus geared up...
I decided to leave a note along with promo materials for my 'Dance Party 99' campaign as well to serve as proof of verification for this visit.  (Which I hope you guys got. The security guard, slash doorman ensured me he'd get it to you.)
But besides not being able to kick it w/ you guys for a second, all in all Hollywood was pretty nice.  I've seen most other big cities and because of Cali's scenic landscape, the ehtnical mixture of females, and shear opportunities, & possibilities I'm leaning toward declaring it my favorite city, and will be back for sure so I'll get another chance at hanging with the 'cool kids'.  Before I do though I've got at least five more spots to hit, next one being Virginia Beach for the 52nd Annual Coastal Edge East Coast Surfing Championships.  This'll be my first one so I'm 'stoked' as they'd say...until next time

No Condom!!!: DP 99 Press Release

Party like its’99….Again!!!

Remember Prince?  1999?  If not then you need to go google that shyte or something cuz you won’t understand this…well you will but you won’t get it, get it?  So Your good friend Jon Oh! Has been bombarded with lots of W’s1 lately… work, why’s, women.  Thus far has been pretty tumultuous for Your bro.  As you should know I released the biggest hit of my career I’d say…

Dance Party!!!

dancepartyold
Which immediately after releasing it I felt like this….

Because Your dear old friend knew what he’d just done.  He had just struck oil anew in the states, or found gold as some would say.  He could hear the potential involved.  It moved him, and you know how our narrator feels about something moving him?  Why it moves others as well!!!  And right he was.  People old, and anew loved it, smash straight from the gate I tell you.  Pleased with the results he was, and you know what?  MTV.com even picked it up eventually!  Blogs, and websites alike, one by one extended their helping hand at getting the project the attention that was needed.  And after all that trouble my friend would you believe that our dearest pals Big Gigantic weren’t able to let him gain credits on the song???????????????
Oh yes I neglected to inform my friends that their friend hadn’t recorded this particular song over his own beat, he hijacked to be honest,
carjacking
But it was never my intention to rob BG*of any royalties of any sort no, no dear brother.  It was actually me who reached out to my beloved(#LoadedLuxvc) and told them of the whole ordeal, but no luck their manager simply replied he couldn’t do it…

Made me feel like the guy in the blue I ain’t lying……

I was taken aback.  All the time, effort, blood, sweat, and tears I’d put into building my “Dance Party” campaign only to find I’d not be able to run in the election!!! Damned your brother was, frustrated not only with thyself, but also with questions coming from others concerning the song, and the direction of thy career.  Was it over for our beloved hero?  Certainly not, if it were he wouldn’t be our hero then would he?  He instead looked at all of it as a learning experience that he could benefit from hence….

#BlackClockWork

After a few days of discern Jon Oh! said something was still wrong, the old material seemed to plague your brother, troubled him something terrible.  He had to come up with an answer......And just like that!  Whilst enjoying time with his main Mary Jane, the answer came from the heavens…Dance Party!

Best way to explain it really.  My career had a tire with a hole in it.  Instead of changing the tire I’d been using fix-a-flat.  It’s finally time to change the tire.  Dance Party ’99, a revolution in hip-hop dance music.

Still waiting for iTunes, Amazon, etc… to post Dance Party ’99 so You All could have somethin’ Fresh & New, 2 Party 2! But like the saying goes, “All Good Things Come in Time”, sooo in the meanwhile I wanna run a side experiment! I’m trying to choose the next single and would like some feedback on my current choice. Its entitled “Fugg Up Da Check(O.P.P.)”, it’s about spending money that isn’t yours and I feel…I know it has the potential to be just as large as Dance Party ’99. Perfect follow-up because when paired with ‘DP99’ it gives a perfect example of my #2Entity trait, that I so love. Also it gives a perfect example of my versatility and ability to drop Hot Shid(Nelly vc) no matter the topic, situation, or beat!! Let me know what ya think, if I get enough positive feedback then I’ll release the official track!!!
