I Don't Like Sh!t, I Don't Go Outside

Artists are really getting creative with their album titles this year. I thought no one would be able to top K Dot with the "To Pimp A Butterfly" title but I was wrong. "I Don't Like Shit, I Don't Go Outside", has got to be one of the most obscure, yet interesting titles I've ever heard. Another one that makes you want to listen, to find out the reasoning behind the title. Earl being the artist he is, definitely adds to the "aura" of the album. I had to find time in my day to listen to it today, and here's my synopsis.

If you know Earl, then you know to expect the dopest beats that the OF production team offers, with the dopest dark lyrics to match. Its lil over 30 minutes so its a pretty light, easy listen. No need to skip any tracks, especially if your a real fan. The only song that I'm not too fond of is Grief, and thats supposed to be the lead single, that was to lead the album release but Sweat says the label fvkked up the whole process and released it the opposite way so that's, that. The bright side tho, folk like me who aren't particularly into that one still rushed to hear it cause we wanted to hear the album! IDLSIDGO has four features(Dash, Wiki, Na'kel, Vince Staples)...four dope features being that every artist not only held his own, but seemed to go the extra mile which really adds replay value. I listened to the album in entirety twice in one sitting no problem. It starts out really good, Grief is the weak-point of the album for me, but its just one song, and I'll add that I found it more amusing the second time around. There's suppose to be a story surrounding it and why he chose it to be the lead single, but I haven't heard it. The latter half of the album is what really does it for me (#nohomo) tho; the beats and the features just adds the extra uumph that makes it a good album.

If you're a fan already then buy it, no ifs, ands, or buts about it. If you're not a fan but are interested, its still worth the buy. Its an album to listen to when you just kicked back chilling, or riding through your city on a late night. All in all its a great first effort, and does what its supposed to do: Leave you wishing he'd hurry up with the next!

IYRTITL vs TPAB

     Like a good friend of mine says let's talk about the elephant in the room.  Who has the hottest release: K Dot or Drizzy?  Now before we go any further let me acknowledge the fact that there were lots of other hot releases this year for example I love ZRo new shyte.  These are two of the most listened to hip hop artist in music like Kobe vs MJ both in their prime.  So with ninfurther or do let's get to it      Let's get the basics out the way. Two well put together projects, from two super duper talented artists.  Both have an excellent beat selection and when it comes down to content and skills neither of then slacked or missed a step.  On the surface the question just breaks down to who or what type of music you prefer.  A more soulful black revolution sound or something more along the lines of rhythm & rap?  

•      With "If You're Reading This Its To Late" Drake does what Drake does and that's stay in his lane and make good music.  Nothing outside of what he usually does, just upgraded as expected, but you can't go wrong with catchy hooks, solid song concepts &  production.  I'm still not sure if its Drake official album or is it just a mixtape/something he put out just to get on through. Whatever the case its a good project.

•      Kendrick also did what he was expected to and that's make another audio movie.  Complete masterpiece.  K Dot crossed a boundary with To Pimp A Butterfly that major artists these days dare not to, & that's wage war against the oppressor.  Content and production wise as well.  To top it off it sounds totally different from GKMC just as GKMC differs from Section .80.

     So in closing you can't compare the two albums because they're completely different artist, that make two different types of music.  I can say that Kendrick can do what Drake did (as far as the type of music he does) but I don't see Drake doing what Kendrick did.  Key words here are  I don't see it,  but that doesnt mean it cant be done.  Just like K Dot dont wanna do club type music, Drake may just not want to make music like that.  What is official though is that each artist put out some great material for their fans to savor for a while....

Life tears people up; some just deal with it some simply can’t handle it. Then you have people like Jon Oh! that just enjoy the ride! Branding himself Mr No Condom back in 2012, he’s been applying pressure ever since most likely breaking the pipe this year. With two impressive mixtapes circulating online, Jon Oh! decides to bring us an official album this year, leading with his catchy tune “Pearl Speeds”. Taking a retro-approach to a futuristic beat, Mr No Condom holds the listener hostage on a two minute high speed chase while dropping countless jewels along the way.

“This is only a small sample of what to not expect…(laughs) I’m working a different angle on every track, so just know it only gets better”

Mr. No Condom starts the song out with his upbringing in the nineties and goes on to talk about how it molded him into the dope azz artist he is today. The beat keeps you with a constant jig with its catchy & simple, yet complex tune; this is also the best way to describe his flow as he rides the beat from start to finish. Roughly just two minutes and some change, by the time you realize what's going on the song is going off, forcing you to repeat it two times at least to fully take it in, but you won’t because the replay value is pretty high for this reason.

Given everything goes well Jon Oh! says to expect the album just in time for SXSW this year. He went on to say that the untitled album will contain about eight to ten tracks with a heavy emphasis placed on soul based production. With what we’ve heard so far I can say that we’re in for quite a treat, and before its all said I’m almost 100% sure he will be everyone’s “Favorite Black Guy”.

Jon Oh! is an indie hip hop artist established in Charleston, South Carolina around the start of 2012. Branding himself as Mr. No Condom, he dedicates his being as a symbol of freewill and reflects this in his music. He encourages others to become more in tune with their inner self through following natural intuition.
